Craftsmanship: Each tile begins with a hand-drawn design that is meticulously hand-carved into plaster to create production molds. After RAM-pressing and hand-finishing, the tile undergoes bisque firing to 1900°F. Each section is then carefully glazed with a bulb syringe before the final firing to 2150°F, creating the rich coral red and green hues that make this tile so distinctive.

About One Acre Ceramics

One Acre Ceramics pottery and tiles are handmade by Sarah and Thomas Gelsanliter at their studio in southeastern Michigan. Drawing inspiration from their surroundings and influences including Arts & Crafts design, Asian art, and historical furniture, they create distinctive ceramic art. Thomas, with his background at Motawi Tileworks and MFA from Cranbrook Academy, hand-draws and carves all designs. Together with Sarah's expertise from years as a production potter and studies in Japan, they create tiles and pottery featuring luminous glazes and intricate patterns that are both beautiful and functional.
