A Meaningful Historic Connection

The Marston House museum is named after George Marston, founder of San Diego's legendary Marston Company department store (1878-1961). When we discovered this Los Angeles-based Marston Company—complete with a logo reminiscent of 1920s Marston's—we knew it was meant to be. This candle pays homage to one of the original store's most treasured traditions: Lilac Time, started by Vice President Tom Hamilton. What began with two lilac bushes grown by the Barnes family in Pine Hills eventually flourished to three thousand, delighting generations of San Diegans each spring.
