These stunning 13.5-ounce glasses feature Frank Lloyd Wright's Orange Butterfly design from the Dana-Thomas House, built for social activist Susan Lawrence Dana in 1902. Because of Dana's unlimited budget, Wright created some of his finest and most detailed art glass compositions for this elaborate Springfield, Illinois home.
The butterfly design is one of Wright's most notable geometric abstractions of natural elements, with the midwestern sumac plant serving as the primary motif throughout the house. The natural form has been interpreted and reduced to its basic geometry, appearing in over two hundred windows, doors, skylight panels, and light fixtures throughout the home. The butterfly art glass design makes a particularly striking impression arching around the entry door.
These glasses celebrate Wright's masterful ability to transform nature into architectural art, bringing the elegance of one of his most detailed and luxurious commissions to your table.
