About the Artist: Born in Durban, South Africa, and now based in San Diego, Margaret Larlham brings a unique international perspective to California's diverse landscapes. With formal fine art training from San Diego State University, where she is now a tenured professor in the School of Theatre, Television and Film, Larlham combines academic rigor with passionate field work.
Larlham's dedication to plein air painting, often in Mission Trails preserve near her home, allows her to record fleeting impressions with remarkable authenticity. Her work captures the textures, energy, and surprises found in California's coastal and pastoral scenes, with paintings held in numerous private collections. "Road Less Traveled" embodies her fascination with wilderness terrain and her masterful ability to translate the play of sunlight and the character of the land into compelling visual narratives.
The California landscape of distant mountains and dry stony washes, set against the fragility and hardiness of chaparral, provides endless inspiration for Larlham's distinctive artistic voice.
