Craftsmanship: The intricate radiating patterns were hand-drawn and carved before being applied to wheel-thrown forms. After bisque firing to 1900°F, glazes are meticulously applied with bulb syringes to create the distinctive cloisonné-like effect. A final firing to over 2100°F ensures durability and brings out the luminous quality of the yellow glaze.

One Acre Ceramics pottery and tiles are handmade by Sarah and Thomas Gelsanliter at their studio in southeastern Michigan. With Sarah's background as a production potter and her studies in Japan, combined with Thomas's MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and nearly 9 years at Motawi Tileworks, their collaborative work showcases exceptional skill and artistic vision. Luminous glazes and intricate designs are the hallmarks of their art pottery, with each piece hand-crafted to be both beautiful and functional. Thomas hand-carves all designs, while Sarah throws vessels on the potter's wheel, creating finished work that highlights both of their unique talents.
